Join us for an engaging one-week day camp at the Johnston-Felton-Hay House, designed for children ages 9-12 who have a curiosity about history and preservation! Campers will explore Macon’s architectural heritage, learning about different styles and the significance of preserving historical structures. Highlights of the camp include: A van tour with Visit Macon, tracing the area’s history from its earliest settlements at the site of what is now Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park. BTS Tour Second and Fourth Saturdays of the Month 10:15 a.m. This specialty tour provides guests with a behind-the-scenes look at areas of Hay House that are not accessible on the regular tour. Guests will have the opportunity to see the wine cellar, secret room, balcony, and attic. The spectacular 360-degree view of Macon from the widow’s walk is a must-see! This tour lasts approximately 2 hours. There are many stairs in the house. Though the building is wheelchair accessible and has a small elevator, there are still many stairs involved on this tour. Experience Hay House after dark! Go behind the scenes at what Architectural Digest calls one of the “13 Most Beautiful Haunted Destinations Around the World.” Hear spine-tingling tales of unexplained noises, lights with a mind of their own, and real-life ghost sightings. Come a little early to enjoy a “spirit” (a complimentary glass of wine, beer or soda) and browse around the ground level of the house before the tour.
